Nel started partner dancing at the age of 14. She was then allowed to become acquainted with ballroom dancing for 3.5 years. At a later age, she added various dance styles to her repertoire, including the Argentinian Tango, Paso Doble, Zouk, West Coast Swing and the Bachata, which she occasionally still dances.
In 2017, Nel started dancing Kizomba. That same year she had her first kizomba lesson from Donnovan and in 2018 she became a student of Kizomba Evolution. In 2019 she was asked by Donnovan to assist with the lessons and she still does it with lots of pleasure.
